To love God and seek truth.
To love God and seek truth.
God quiets the world in a blanket of snow and warms our hearts through the comfort of Christ. Winter is the season for deep introspection, an opportunity for wisdom as we seek God's truth.
"Be still and know that I am God." - Psalms 46:10

Seeing God through His natural creation encourages us to dig deeper in His word and get to know Him more.

As an artist, I enjoy finding ways to expand my creativity. I recently decided our Monastery grounds could use a few miniature cottages, which I call Little Lodges.
Each one will be unique. This is the first one; it’s known as Foxy’s House.
It’s been a fun, artistic project allowing the creative ideas of my imagination to become tangible and shared with others. Enjoy!

What exactly was happening in Noah’s time? And are we seeing this repeat again today? I explore these fascinating questions and more in my latest blog post! This is a deep one, so buckle your spiritual seatbelt and jump in (link posted below)!
With more than 25 years of eschatology studies, my goal is not to convince anyone but to spark curiosity and encourage you to look into Godly matters for yourself. Dig deep, find God’s truth. (See Acts 17:11)
During the darkest days of winter (the Water Element), I deepen into my most profound Bible studies. Amid the depths of the Water Element I need some high-energy of the Fire Element so I include songs of warm praise.
The Fire & Water Elements of God’s creation aren’t at war with each other - quite the opposite - they’re interconnected and purposeful, designed perfectly to balance the other.

Some things are irreversible.
You are more precious and valuable than you realize. God LOVES you. How would your life change if you genuinely believed that truth?

This time of year is a blur of stress, chaos, and deadlines for some. Yet as we witness God’s creation, we notice the opposite intention. God hushes the plants, animals, our hearts, and the world with long, quiet nights to give us a season of rest and a time for recovery and introspection.
May we focus on God and enjoy this restful, slow, and quiet time of year more deeply.

The Greek word, anapauō, is translated to "rest," which means "to recover and collect strength" and to have a "calm and patient expectation." We can know this kind of peace and hope through Jesus.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."-John 3:16

Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let go.
Leaves don't fall because they abandon the tree, they honor the message from within the tree - telling them it's time to release.
Letting go requires courage; it's an action based on the refined wisdom to see a bigger picture and to embrace the deepest truth without fear.
Trees face the harsh winters by refining to what it needs most - making it stronger, and better equipped for the coming storms.
"The king of Aram was enraged... He sent a great army... When the attendant had risen early, behold, an army was circling the city. "Alas! What shall we do?" "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." Then Elisha prayed, "O, Lord, open his eyes that he may see." And the Lord opened the servant's eyes and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha." - 2 Kings 6:11-17
Autumn is the season of the Metal Element, a time for letting go of the unnecessary, seeking the eternally essential, and refining life to its essence.
"The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." - Psalm 18:2

"You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error." - 1 John 4:2-6
The Woolly Bear Caterpillar was used to predict the severity of upcoming winter. The length of its black stripes at its head and tail represents the harshness of winter. Other studies suggest the varying lengths of their black stripes represent the health of the previous spring and summer.
Some sources are more accurate than others. Thankfully, God wrote how to help us navigate these time, and the days to come. By looking to God we can be prepared and encouraged no matter the storm around us.
Our battle is not against fellow humans, it's against supernatural beings and their unseen forces. A spiritual war requires spiritual strength.
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm." Eph. 6:11-13
And then there is rain!!! I open the door this morning and the smell of fresh rain fills my lungs. The drops sound their joyful crescendo on the roof, on the trees, and in my heart.
As water cleans the air and delivers much-needed nourishment for the forest, it clears my mind and nourishes my soul. It grounds us all as it falls to the earth like a gift from Heaven, and works its way through the dry soil.

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?" Psalm 27:1
"Teach me your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth" Psalm 86:11
"And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32
The Autumn Equinox is a time of balance when day and night share the same number of minutes in a day. The Earth Element thrives at this time of year, use this energy to seek balance, recenter, and find grounding.
There's no better grounding than in the Word of the Lord. Open your Bible and secure your feet, heart, and soul on His firm foundation. A well-watered and nourished tree with deep roots is more resilient in the coming storms. There's no greater relief than being centered in God's will.
When Jesus' disciples asked about end times, He warned, "Let no one deceive you."
If you had superpowers beyond human limits and thousands of years to come up with a deception, your deception could be so good, and others so convinced that they help you spread the lie and bully, force, and threaten people into it also.
This is no surprise to those who study God's scriptures. Seek the truth, and you shall find it!
God isn't the only one with plans, but God is the one who wins the final battle.
"All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever." - Isaiah 40:5 & 8
