We see all around us today that those who reach for power and possessions in this life are never satisfied. This does not exclude the poorest among us as the Demon Spirit of ENVY is just as strong among the poor as among those who have attained great riches and power. The man of the world who has his portion in this life only is living for a world that is passing away (1 John 2:17) so that his "assets" become his burden.
In Daniel 1: 8-10 Daniel determined he did not want to defile himself with the king’s food or wine (1:8). Education (knowledge), language are both ok no contradiction to the Word of God but the Line Was Drawn With The Word of God! To compromise on the dietary laws that were a separation point for the chosen people of God and the world's dietary system. The question we must ask and answer is,

Mankind worships royalty, nobility, the beauty of face and body, communications skills - the outward appearance. Man always has found it easy to worship man over God. How is that working out for our world today?

Exposed to the system of this world as a young man, Daniel had every opportunity to COMPROMISE and CONFORM and bend the knee to the Prince of this age. The system of this world built on the Lust of the Eyes, Lust of the Flesh, and the Pride of Life are designed to DECEIVE and CONDEEM you.
But Daniel remained a pure and humble servant of God abiding in the Word Of God!
