Maybe, or perhaps it is DEI hiring where instead of hiring and training those who are the best welders and best for the job, they pass on those employees because they don't have enough employees of a certain category. It should be common sense that small people are better suited to work in smaller areas and taller people better suited where the job requires working on something 7' above the ground (floor) and stronger people where heavy lifting is required. When you need mainly tall people and that happens to be dominated by a certain race (or small people dominated by a difference race) then that is taking advantage of the qualities and attribute that different people can offer.
