I have a situation concerning my employment and thought someone might have advise.
This job is new, just under 3 months. I work at a military base in Canada. The company I work for has been given the cleaning contract.
1 of the buildings just restarted using their basement as a recreation area games room. I was asked to clean it. I tried. The basement smells of mold and is unpleasant. I had been having frequent headaches. After entering the basement I suffered a strange tingling sensation and numbness. Altough I went to the hospital,
they where to busy to fit me in. The next day I tried again and the sensation was more intense causing me to go to the emergency department at the hospital Again.
The doctor told me I was fine except my blood pressure was high as was my heart rate. He suggested an air quality test be done. Today is the third day. Someone used my supplies to clean the basement without my knowledge. I suffered the same tingling, numbness and now my throat feels sore.
I was told that this building as well as others on base are old, and have Asbestos, Mold and rodent infestations. I was not told this previous to being assigned the building. They were aware of my physical reaction to being in the buildings basement.
What can I do to help myself other than fresh air?
If you can find a large ozone unit like they use after a fire, leave it on overnight, it generally kills the mold and oxidizes old chemical vapors. You can't be in the room very long if it is on as it can irritate lung tissue.
What about CDS?
Would that work? Several jars placed in each room?
