This verse is an important one to remember, as it brings to attention the severity of living life for worldly means. Often times, we fail to recognize our own sin & instead boast of our worldly achievements for affirmation & success. It is in this selfishness that we lose the true meaning of this life. If we strive for worldly affirmation, we lose our life completely. This life on earth is only the beginning to an eternity with God. It is better to be hated on earth for preaching the Good News & ultimate Truth than to lose your soul.
