Surveillance optics: I may have missed it but I don't remember many if any posts on the benefits of binoculars for the coming societal unrest. Optics tend to be like knives, folks tend to get argumentative about which is best for which situations. To maybe start a useful discussion for Mike, I'll recommend the Celestron Skymaster 8x56 as a useful design for day and even night surveillance of your area.
