Every year I get to type up and print out school tests for our local Amish teacher, grades 1-8. For the fun of it I asked our daughter with a 6 and 11 year old to have them try the tests. They are just basic add, sub, mult, div, fractions, percentages and word problems. She laughed, her kids math skills are "way above the silly Amish". Well, got a call back, even her and her husband couldn't do most of the problems (with a calculator). Also, think about these Amish kids are raised speaking their version of German but by the age of 6 they can read, write and speak English.
