IS IT PARANOID TO THINK THAT SECURITY CAMERA APPS ARE SPYING AND SURVEYING?

Just wondering if anyone has any insight into wifi security cameras. There are a lot of them available on ebay etc. Of course they all require an app that wants all sorts of permission, such as location etc. Might go with locally wired so I know what I've got, but the apps have a lot of useful features. Not in the US btw. Any thoughts anyone?
